No. Unlike a motion detector, Cartell’s sensor only detects moving steel, virtually eliminating false alarms. Animals, people, wind and weather do not trigger the sensor. However, if the sensor is not stationary, it will trip when physically moved.
Cartell vehicle detection systems lead the market with an average field life of 12-15 years. Service calls are virtually eliminated with our top quality design and manufacturing and materials.
Yes. All Cartell products are covered by a 3-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
The warranty applies to products that have been properly installed and used as intended. Warranty claims require troubleshooting through Cartell Technical Support and approval through the RMA process.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by:
• Acts of God (lightning, flooding, etc.)
• Improper installation or abuse
• Fire damage or electrical surges
• System integration failures
• Incorrect lid or gasket installation
• Over-tightened or stripped screws/inserts
• Damaged or improperly spliced cables
• Failure to run cable through non-metallic conduit
For full warranty procedures, including RMA requirements and installer responsibilities, please refer to Cartell’s Warranty & Returns Policy, linked on every page of the website and during checkout.

Cartell products are made in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania to ensure quality and support local communities.
The sensor covers a 12′ wide driveway when installed beside the driveway. If your driveway is wider, use two sensors, one on each side, or install sensor in the middle of the driveway.
You can install the sensor in three places: 1) In the dirt beside the driveway, with top of puck level with the sod; 2) On an immovable post adjacent to the driveway, several inches above the ground; 3) In the driveway by boring a 4.5″ hole. See manual for specific instructions.
Cartell uses the earth’s magnetic field to detect vehicles. A loop creates its own field with electricity. Cartell is buried beside the driveway; a loop is buried inside the driveway, requiring slicing it. Cartell lasts indefinitely; a loop has to be replaced periodically.
